Details

 1. Start typing

Search begins after  typing 3+ characters

Before typing, the last 10 recent searches are shown

2. Narrow results (Optional)

Select a category

Once you open the search modal, you can select a specific category to narrow your search. After choosing a category (e.g., Companies), start typing your query and the results will be limited to that category only.

 3. Results across all categories

Results are grouped by category

  • Up to 4 companies shown first.
  • Up to 2 results for other categories.
  • See all results” appears if more information.

 4. Result order

Items are sorted by relevance

  1. Exact match
  2. Prefix match
  3. Substring match
  4. Fuzzy match (typos allowed)
  5. Corrective: The system corrects misspellings (e.g., typing “Davice” will still return items containing “Device”).

 5. Result preview info

Each item shows helpful context

  • Pipeline/Fund
  • Stage (Seed, Watchlist, etc.)
  • Linked company (for tasks, emails, notes, documents, events and comments)
  • Sender + recipients (for emails)

Note: The system treats items containing characters like _ or - as a single word.

e.g., IMG_3DB1D653E010-1.jpg is indexed as one full word, so search will only return results when matching the first 3 characters or the full string — partial keywords won’t be found (e.g., typing “653E” won’t match).

The recent search results shown before typing come from previous actions where the user entered a value in the search bar and then clicked on "[company, task, note, etc.].

These recent searches are stored in the user’s browser local storage, which means they will disappear if the user clears their local storage or browser data.
