Edda Email Plug-ins for Outlook and Gmail

Our purpose-built plugins allow you to selectively attach emails directly to a Dealflow company, contact, or both, right from your email account.

Installation

The Edda plugin gives you full control over which emails you want to import to Dealflow company, Contacts, or both. You can install it by clicking the relevant link and following the installation procedure for Gmail or Outlook.

Common case

Receiving deals through email is common. When startups contact you via email or your preferred source sends a new deal, you can quickly add it with just a few clicks and attach the email to its profile.

How to use the Plug-in 

Although the plugin’s interface may vary between Outlook and Gmail, its functionality remains the same.

  • Opening the Plugin from an Email
    • In Gmail, the plugin opens automatically when you open an email.

    • In Outlook, you can access it by clicking the Edda symbol in the email action buttons. you can also manage Add-ins in the Custom Actions section.

Once you have opened the plugin for the first time, you will need to proceed to log into your Edda account.

Default Settings / Educational Tour

  • Launching the Tour: To learn more about the plugin’s functionalities, click the three dots/options button and select Launch Tour.

  • Customizing Default Settings: You can customize preselected options and settings by clicking the three dots/options button and selecting Settings. While default settings apply automatically, you can still adjust them for specific emails before uploading. From the settings menu, you can: 
    • Email Visibility: Choose whether the visibility of not-yet-uploaded emails should be preselected as public or private, determining if the email will be visible to your internal team once uploaded.

    • Attachments: Decide if attachments should be selected by default for upload.

    • Company Profile Display: Customize which information appears on the company profile within the plugin.

Email Transfer Section

When you open the plugin on an email that hasn’t been transferred to Edda, you’ll land on the transfer settings page by default. 

Add or Select companies 

You can click on Add or Select Companies to add a new company or multiple ones and attach the email to it. Or, you can click on the button and use the search bar to select one of your existing companies on Edda.

 

Edda will automatically use the domain name in the email to identify the company. Click on the checkbox next to the identified company to select it and attach the email to it. If the company does not exist in your pipelines, a new module will open for you to add it accordingly.


Add or Select Contacts

Edda will automatically detect the email addresses and list them so you can add them to Edda. If needed, you can also attach the email to them. Click on the checkbox next to the identified contact to select it and attach the email. If the contact does not exist in your pipelines, a new module will open to add it accordingly. You can also choose whether the contact should be added to the Team section of the company.


Note that adding a contact to the Team section of a company only applies to newly added contacts, not existing ones selected from the list. This option is only available when transferring the email for the first time, not when updating details later.

Attachment and Email Visibility 

You can choose whether to upload attachments or not, and whether to make the email public or private, determining if your team can view it. You can also set all attachments to be selected by default and adjust email visibility (public/private) from the plugin settings page.

Transfer Email

Once you have selected a company, contact, or both, the Transfer button at the bottom will be active. Click on it to transfer the email to Edda.

Email Details 

  • Access Profiles:
    • Click on a company or contact to view their profile in the plugin.
    • If you click on a company, its profile will open within the plugin (The displayed fields can be customised from the plugin settings page). To visit the full company profile on Edda, click Open in Dealflow.
  • Tasks Section:
    • At the bottom of the page, you’ll find the Tasks section, where you can:
    • Create new tasks related to the company.
    • View all existing tasks linked to the company.
    • Mark tasks as complete directly from this section.

Update Email

You can attach the email to additional companies or contacts by selecting them and clicking Update Email. Similarly, you can remove the email from a profile by unselecting a company or contact and then clicking Update email.

You can also change the email’s visibility to private or public directly from the plugin, and once you click Update email, the changes will be applied instantly. The Edda plugin is highly flexible, giving you full control over how your data is processed.
